nano-satellites, acting as probes for the exploration of distant
objects in the solar system, like the TNO s (short for
\${{"}}\$Trans-Neptunian object\${{"}}\$) Pluto and Haumea. We
find optimal solutions to gravitational capture of the probes for
these bodies, taking into account the orbital perturbations of the
sun, the gravitational potential of these bodies (and the
gravitational potential of Charon, in the case of Pluto).
Therefore, we calculate the values of the coefficients of the
gravitational potential of Haumea to degree and order four. We
also consider the perturbation of the moons which orbit these
systems (Hiiaka and Namaka for Haumea; Charon, Styx, Nix,
Kerberos, and Hydra for Pluto). These captures occur with energy
saving, since the bodies are captured with two-body energies less
than zero. We show which disturbers are more important for the
system for certain periapsis radius values by the method of the
integral of the accelerations caused by the disturbers. By the
comparison of the results obtained from the gravitational capture
study and the study on the influences of the disturbers, we found
initial conditions that lead to the capture with energy saving and
these probes remain trapped around the system for a minimum of
five years. It is also possible, using the same method, to find
initial conditions leading to possible collisions between the the
probes and the bodies of the systems studied.",
